Planting a New Garden

There are many benefits to growing flowers in the garden. Flowers can attract wildlife, improve curb appeal, create a relaxing atmosphere, and supply cut flowers. It isn't always possible to know exactly what you want right away for a new garden. It can be possible to start slow, planting small numbers of plants, or have the whole garden planned at once. Here are some tips in planting a garden the first time: 1. Do your research. Find what grows in your area by looking in the neighbors yards, local nurseries, and reading up. 2. Measure your garden space, allowing areas for not only plants, but also walkways, open areas, etc. 3. Before planting, improve the soil. This is very important to do all at once in the beginning as later it can take quite a lot of time to play soil section by section. 4. When planning areas to plant, leave enough room for each plant to grow and expand. You can divide many plants later, but it is a balance leaving enough room open to grow while also making sure the garden will look good the first couple years as it establishes. 5. Ensure you mulch your garden beds after planting. Mulch ensures weeds have a harder time sprouting from seed and also keeps moisture in the ground.
