Often it is easy when planting a new garden to expect results in weeks or months. Annuals can deliver flowering results fastest since they are meant for a short season. Perennials last year after year but sometimes take longer to see results in the beginning.
Roots of all plants will take anywhere from a month to a couple of years to get established.
This means that there are milestones to look for in a new garden. Short term results are nice in weeks or months. After that we like to see some real things happening after 6 months, a year, and then within two years a well established garden.
